In today’s world, petroleum refining plays a key role in the energy infrastructure of many countries, producing a variety of petroleum products needed to support economic activity and day-to-day functioning. Refineries (refineries) are the heart of this industry, processing crude oil into a variety of fuels, lubricants and chemicals.

In this article we present an extensive database of all known refineries in the world for every single country in the world. Our goal is to provide readers with complete and unbiased information about all real refineries that exist in the world. Unfortunately, many companies write on their websites and in their articles that they are refineries, although in fact they are not. We tried to weed out false information and compile the list only from real production complexes, real refineries, which are involved in crude oil processing. We have collected information on companies and cities to create the most complete overview of this important part of the global oil industry, and also tried to find all the official websites of the refineries so that you can contact them if necessary.

In total, we studied 195 countries and found 700 refineries in the world that process crude. An interesting fact is that only 82 countries in the world have refineries, while we did not find any refineries in 113 countries. In our article, in order to structure the information, we have grouped countries by geographical regions and continents. It is important to note that we do not claim to be 100% accurate, as we collected information from public sources. There is a possibility that some of the refineries are not actually operating, and this data should be verified directly in the country where the refinery is located. In countries such as North Korea the information on actual refineries is completely closed, and in Syria it is difficult to say which refineries are actually operating. In the country of Iran, apart from the state corporation, there is a huge number of semi-artisanal refineries, which on the one hand are production facilities, but on the other hand it is difficult to call them serious refineries. If you are looking for the most reliable information, you should contact the competent authorities of the advising country and clarify the information.
